GOLF

PGA legacy is the cornerstone of Lakewood Country Club's rich heritage...

LCC is the only golf course in Ohio designed by A.W. Tillinghast, a founding father of the PGA of America. In addition, some of golf’s greatest hitters “sparred for the gold” on our course including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Lee Trevino. LCC is also proud to be the only Northern Ohio Club to host the PGA-based, Web.com televised golf tour!

...our golf course is legendary!

Golf Course

As mentioned, Lakewood Country Club is the only golf course in the State of Ohio designed by one of the foremost designers of championship golf courses—A.W. Tillinghast. Not only was Tillinghast a founder of the PGA of America, but he was also an early organizer and enthusiastic supporter of the USGA Green Section. "Tilli's" work consists of USGA and PGA Championship courses including Winged Foot, Baltrusol, Baltimore Five Arms, San Francisco Golf Club and Hermitage Club. Fifty-one (51) national and international championships have been played on the famed architect's courses, and we offer you the unique opportunity to play on our timeless and original Tillinghast golf course!

From 2003 - 2008, Lakewood Country Club members maintained their commitment to the continuous improvement of their greatest asset: the golf course. At that time, LCC members brought in renowned golf course architect Stephen Kay to revitalize the course, while maintaining the inspirational vision of Tillinghast. True to the original architect’s design, Stephen Kay brought back the great hazard on the par 5 sixth hole. In addition, Kay added and improved fairway and green-side bunkers, and he positioned Lakewood as the best course on the west side of Cleveland once again! In 2008, championship tees were added and the course was lengthened to 7,022 yards.

Practice Area

Our practice facility is arguably the best in Northern Ohio! In addition to Lakewood's 18-hole golf course, our members have access to practice facilities that consist of two putting greens, an adult driving range with two large bent grass tees and five target greens, a junior range with beautifully manicured tees and shortened target greens, and an outstanding 2.5-acre short game practice area. The short game practice area was opened in 2008 and allows members and our PGA Professional Staff to practice and teach a variety of shots around the greens.
